The foundation focuses on strengthening the commitment of civil society and its responsibility to nature conservation. We consider it as our mission to support environmental training as much and as broadly as possible and to encourage people to become active in conserving nature, the ground upon which we all stand. Manfred-Hermsen-Stiftung implements this mission through numerous environmental training projects. Some of them aim to help people to live environmentally friendly lives or to become active in conservation. We encourage conscious resource use and environmentally sound and sustainable development of natural resources.
The success of civil commitment to conservation can manifest itself in targeted campaigns, which we also occasionally support. The main focus of our funding concept is the temporary support of especially small initiatives and private projects with strong personal commitment of local people; projects that may not have easy access to financial resources. In these cases we would like to provide help to the partners to ultimately help themselves.
In addition, Manfred-Hermsen-Stiftung carries out its own projects. The focal topics of these initiatives are biodiversity in the agricultural landscape and river ecosystems. If possible, we try to include environmental training elements in most of our projects and to inspire young people through active and practical work, e.g. in our brook restoration projects.
In many regions, Manfred-Hermsen-Stiftung works to complement the activities of other conservation organisations or agencies to maximise the success of larger projects. We are open to all forms of cooperation that are in line with our dedication to nature conservation.
